Nicolaj Moller-Madsen led a PROsport Performance 1-2 in the second GT4 European Series Northern Cup race at Misano, as RYS Team InterNetX was disqualified from the lead in the closing stages.

Joerg Viebahn started the No. 91 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR from fourth on the grid and was in the top three for most of his stint, before Moller-Madsen took over the car in the pit stops.

Despite this, it was Jamie Vandenbalck who looked set to take the race victory, driving the No. 64 RYS Team InterNetX KTM X-Bow GT4 started from 16th by Mads Siljehaug.

However, Vandenbalck’s car was disqualified from the lead in the final few minutes, having ignored the safety car that had been brought out following a collision between Matt Nicoll-Jones and Manuela Gostner.

Before the incident, Nicoll-Jones had been running in second place behind Vandenbalck, in another strong showing from the Academy Motorsport crew.

The crash dropped the Brit to ninth place, allowing Moller-Madsen and Kevin Rossel, in the sister No. 92 PROsport car, to inherit the final two podium positions as the safety car was brought out.

Rossel had taken his Porsche over from Alessio Picariello who led most of the running during the first half.

The field resumed to green-flag racing for one lap at the end of the race, with the KTM disqualified, allowing Moller-Madsen and Rossel to take first and second positions.

“It seems like we are strong this year,” commented Moller-Madsen. “I made a mistake yesterday and had to give something back to Joerg.

“So yeah, I am happy to put the car in a win, together with Joerg, because that is where deserve to be. Happy!”

Ricardo van der Ende ran third in the EKRIS M4 GT4, and successfully held off a charge from Pavel Lefterov who was determined to make it an all-Porsche podium in his RN Vision STS car.

Race 1 winner Jonathan Cecotto came home sixth in the RYS Team Kiska car, having collided with fellow RYS driver Reinhard Kofler at the final corner earlier in the race.

RESULTS: Race 2
