Marvin Kirchhoefer has been the latest victim of Mount Panorama following a massive accident in the opening stages of Qualifying 2 for the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

The German driver lost control of his No. 62 R-Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 at Reid Park before making heavy contact with the wall that put the car nearly on its roof.

Kirchoffer’s car came to a rest on track right-side-up and climbed from the car under his own power, with assistance from Renger van der Zande, who stopped his Honda NSX GT3 Evo on track to attend to the accident.

The session restarted with 20 minutes to go left on the clock to determine the cars that will advance to the Pirelli Top 10 Shootout.
