The No. 50 Panoz Avezanno GT4 of Ian James has lost its runner-up finish in Sunday’s Pirelli World Challenge GTS Sprint round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, series officials have confirmed.

James, who enjoyed a battle with the eventual race-winning No. 1 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R of Lawson Aschenbach, was excluded from the results due to a technical infringement.

Sportscar365 understands it relates to an issue with the car’s catalytic converter, a nonconformity which PWC officials had been made aware of in previous events.

It promotes the No. 74 Robinson Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Gar Robinson to a second place overall finish and Jade Buford to third in the No. 55 PF Racing Ford Mustang GT4.

Sunday’s post-race exclusion came as a further setback to the Don Panoz-owned team, with James finishing fifth in Race 1 after being forced to relinquish his second place position on the final lap due to contact with the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 of James Sofronas.

Team manager Tom Milner, meanwhile, has been fined and banned from any further interaction with PWC officials this year for “inappropriate language to officials” and “not exhibiting good sportsmanship” following the incident on Saturday.

Milner said that the officials took offense to his criticism over recent officiating issues, including an incident at Virginia International Raceway last month.

RESULTS: Race 2 (Revised)
