maybe I missed this, but why is ESM front end so different from other Ligiers P2?

    • Olly

      January 5, 2017 at 2:36 pm

      Because it’s a DPi.

It’s part of the Nissan “appearance” kit for the DPi.

Looks like a lot of drag on the front

Yeah, it doesn’t seem to pass the eye test.

    • Really dude

      January 5, 2017 at 2:40 pm

The No: 70 Mazda Silver livery looks like its from space. Awesome!

The other livery I also like is the No: 98 Aston. Last year, AMR did a After Eight (Chocolate) green and white livery.
This time, they’ve updated the livery the used at the Nurburgring 24 hours last year.

Best of luck to all teams.

I was really hoping that this BMW “Art Car” wasn’t going to make the cut and would just quietly and gracefully be forgotten as a PR flop. Too bad.

I actually like it, except for the small BMW picture on one door.

The plain white proto….is that Multimatic/Riley?? Just don’t know about the nose on that. Still, great to see everyone. Going to be a fun month of unknowns!

Thanks Luc, Olly. Plain white and that angle threw me off I guess. Looked better in black at Ricard
But they’re all a beautiful sight when unloaded at the track!

Is it me, or does it look like the WTR car has a new paint scheme (more red)?

    • Matt

I’d hazard a guess and say that all three Cadillacs will have the same livery on the fin

The new Acuras look more like art cars than the BMW art car.

Nice to see a full grid of “modern” prototypes at Daytona. Makes Daytona seem relevant on the world stage again for the first time since Grand Am was formed.

Setting up to be an intriguing race. As John D. says, I wouldn’t be surprised to see GTLM get close to overall victory.

Looks like top shelf US sports car racing is more relevant than it has been since Panoz created a home for LMP cars to race.

    Looking forward to 2017

Would love to see a GTLM win overall. Got a feeling though one of the Caddys or Nissans at least will keep it together. The speed gap between P and GTLM is bigger too so the problems any DPI cars have will have to be substantial.

IN the pic of of the visit Florida dpi in the back ground there’s a caddy dpi black with red that Wayne Taylor’s? What happened to the Konica Minolta blue?

    • John

      January 5, 2017 at 11:38 pm

The red people are seeing on the WTR car is the red background of the number placard, which stands out more prominently without any numbers.’

Love all the shiny new cars.

The airbox and lines around the cockpit and mirrors are also red

The ESM Nissan would look better and closer to a Nissan, if there was a grill covering the front opening. In the PR photos of the Mazdas, they also had a grill with a mazda emblem covering the nose area. And it looked better. I expected that it would have it in its full livery.

Totally psyched to watch the Rolex 24 and the rest of the season. Hope most of the cars stay through the whole season for sure!

Whelen Cadillac seems to be all red

Those Mazda’s look really good, especially the silver one; that looks like a rocket ship! Easily the best looking cars in the prototype class, although most of the others ain’t bad either.
