The Detroit Grand Prix has a long racing history. Formula One began racing through the downtown streets in 1982. Over the years, names like Andretti, Fittipaldi, Rahal, and Senna have all won in the Motor City.

In 1992, the race moved to its present location on the 982-acre picturesque Belle Isle Park in the middle of the Detroit River.
