Automatic Aston Martin GT4 Quickest on Friday at Laguna

Kris Wilson led the way in the opening day of practice for Saturday’s IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

A 1:33.123 lap time from Wilson in the No. 99 Automatic Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 during Friday morning’s session stood as quickest of the day.

Wilson edged out the No. 28 RS1 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR of Spencer Pumpelly by 0.029 seconds, with Trent Hindman third in the No. 7 Volt Racing Ford Mustang GT4.

The top-five times in GS all came from the opening session, with the No. 8 Multimatic Motorsports Mustang GT4 of Patrick Gallagher quickest in the afternoon with a 1:33.929 lap.

Times in TCR, however, tumbled in the second session, which was led by Tom O’Gorman with a 1:34.671 lap in the No. 12 eEuroparts.com Racing Audi RS 3 LMS TCR.

Mat Pombo’s 1:39.853 lap time set in the morning, however, stood as the quickest in ST.

A final 15-minute practice session is scheduled for Saturday at 9:50 a.m. PDT, followed immediately by qualifying.
