Premat Storms to CTMP Pole

Alexandre Premat will start this afternoon’s Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120 from the overall pole, in the Frenchman and Ramsey Racing’s first top qualifying run in Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge competition.

Premat took the No. 92 Mercedes-AMG GT4 to a 1:24.172 in the GS qualifying session, outpacing the No. 8 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4 of Patrick Gallagher by 0.112 seconds.

Local hero Scott Maxwell qualified his No. 15 Multimatic Mustang GT4 in third.

Former Audi factory driver and V8 Supercars ace Premat will share driving duties with Mark Ramsey, in the Eric Bachelart-led team’s first season of Continental Tire Challenge.

Tyler McQuarrie qualified the No. 39 CarBahn Motorsports Audi R8 LMS GT4 in fourth, while Nate Stacy made it three Mustang GT4s in the top-five.

Compass, BimmerWorld on TCR, ST Class Poles

Britt Casey Jr. claimed his third class pole of the season in TCR, putting Compass Racing on top in the team’s home race.

Casey took his No. 77 Audi RS 3 LMS TCR to a quick lap of 1:26.011 to edge out the No. 54 JDC-Miller Motorsports Audi of Michael Johnson by 0.822 seconds.

The No. 74 Compass Audi of Rodrigo Sales will start third in class.

ST class pole honors, meanwhile, went to the No. 81 BimmerWorld BMW 328i of Devin Jones, who outpaced the trio of MINI JCWs.

The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120 gets underway at 2:55 p.m. EDT with live coverage on IMSA.tv.
