Following an impressive performance at Kansas, Alex Tagliani will complete the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series season with AIM Motorsport, it was announced Wednesday by the team.

The French-Canadian open-wheel star made his debut with the Ferrari squad last month, winning the GT class pole, and together with co-driver Jeff Segal leading a race-high 61 laps until suffering a refueling-related issue during the car’s final stop.

“I am very excited about being back again with R. Ferri/AIM Motorsport Racing with Ferrari,” Tagliani said. “We obviously had a great weekend going in Kansas, and this is kind of a dream come true to be able to be in the Ferrari family and go racing. I am very passionate about the brand.”

Tagliani replaces Max Papis, who had started the season with the Canadian team, which included class victory at the Brickyard, but had missed the two most recent rounds due to his NASCAR commitments.

“Being a Canadian team, part of our approach has been to grow our program using Canadian drivers when possible,” said R.Ferri/AIM Team Principal and Owner Remo Ferri. “We had that opportunity with Kenny Wilden at Elkhart Lake and continued it with Alex Tagliani in Kansas.

“We were extremely strong in both races and we will continue with this approach at Laguna and Lime Rock with Alex Tagliani. We’re also already looking at the 2014 season with Alex on board. ”

The Continental Tire Sports Car Festival at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is set for Sept. 8.
