Action Express Tops Session 1 at Roar

Action Express Racing topped a Cadillac DPi 1-2-3-4 in the first on track session for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the Roar Before the 24 at Daytona International Speedway.

Joao Barbosa set the benchmark time with a lap of 1:37.266 in the No. 5 Cadillac DPi V.R, 0.262 seconds clear of the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac in second, followed by Spirit of Daytona and No. 31 AXR entry in fourth.

CORE autosport was the fastest of the non-Cadillac powered entries in fifth.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing swept the top two positions in GT Le Mans with the No. 67 Ford GT edging the No. 66 by 0.320 seconds. Risi Competizione’s Ferrari 488 GTE was the third-fastest in class.

The No. 11 GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 topped the charts in GT Daytona, with Manthey Racing’s No. 59 Porsche 911 GT3 R and the No. 19 Grasser Lamborghini close behind.

The session was halted with less than three minutes remaining and did not restart.

The second and final session of the day is scheduled to run from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. ET.
