JDC-Miller Motorsports has confirmed that it will join the DPi ranks of the  IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2019.

The Minnesota-based team, which currently runs two Oreca 07 Gibson LMP2 cars, will switch to a pair of Cadillac DPi-V.Rs for a full-season campaign next year.

The announcement means JDC-Miller will remain in the top category of the series following IMSA’s decision to split its Prototype class into separate DPi and LMP2 classes.

Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen winner Stephen Simpson has been slated to drive one of the Cadillac DPis, while the remainder of the lineup will be revealed at a later date.

Simpson and co-driver Mikhail Goikhberg currently sit fifth in the Prototype standings following their second-place finish at Road America last weekend.

“When we first started our IMSA WeatherTech program in 2014 we knew our goal was to work with a brand like Cadillac,” said team co-owner John Church.

“We feel strongly that we have found the best possible partner and look forward to adding to the incredible success Cadillac has already enjoyed in IMSA.

“We can confirm that Stephen Simpson for sure will remain with the team for 2019 since we had an option to continue with Stephen.

“After his performance this year, there was no question that he will be in the lineup in one of JDC-Miller MotorSports Cadillac DPis for next year.”

The team expects to take delivery of its first car in September with a view to launching a testing program in November following the end of the current campaign.

The Cadillac DPi, which is based on the Dallara P217, has won ten races since its introduction to the championship at the start of 2017.

It has also won the last two editions of the Rolex 24 at Daytona and took Wayne Taylor Racing to its maiden IMSA WeatherTech Championship title last year.

“We welcome the JDC-Miller team to the Cadillac V-Performance family,” said Matt Russell, marketing manager of Cadillac Racing.

“Their performance with the LMP2 cars has been impressive and we look forward to them joining the grid with their two new Cadillac DPi-V.R cars at Daytona in January.”
