Porsche North America will run a third factory 911 RSR in the GTLM class for the upcoming TUDOR United SportsCar Championship round at Circuit of the Americas, part of the Lone Star Le Mans weekend.

Factory aces Frédéric Makowiecki and Patrick Pilet will share the No. 910 Porsche 911 RSR, which gives the factory squad a third bullet as it looks to hold off rivals Corvette, BMW, Dodge and Ferrari in the battle for the Manufacturer’s Championship.

Porsche currently holds a 2-point lead over Chevrolet (276-274) with Dodge third on 273 and BMW fourth on 272.

“The fight for the championship in the GTLM class remains exciting to the very end,” said Porsche’s Head of Motorsport Hartmut Kristen. “By fielding a third 911 RSR with Porsche North America in Austin we want to maintain our good title chances as leaders of the manufacturer’s classification.”

Porsche has confirmed Jorg Bergmeister alongside Nick Tandy and Richard Lietz in the No. 911 car, with Lietz only racing depending on his recovery following his accident at Virginia International Raceway last month.

Michael Christensen should be back to single-duty after racing in both the Nos. 911 and 912 at VIR, and will share the No. 912 with Patrick Long as usual.

Tandy, Lietz, Bergmeister, Makowiecki and Pilet are all set to pull double-duty on the day, as they’ll be split between the two Porsche Team Manthey GTE-Pro 911 RSRs in the FIA World Endurance Championship Six Hours of Austin race later that afternoon.
