Hindman, Cecotto Win Super Trofeo Race 2

Trent Hindman and Jonathan Cecotto took victory in the second Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America race of the weekend at Virginia International Raceway on Sunday.

Hindman passed Madison Snow for the lead at the Oak Tree Curve and went on to win by 8.709 seconds in his Wayne Taylor Racing-run Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO.

Snow was in the Change Racing car that he took over from polesitter Corey Lewis, who remained in the lead for his entire stint. 

Hindman overtook the Change car five minutes after the drive swaps to score the team’s second win of the year and first since Watkins Glen.

It comes after the team lost out on a win in Saturday’s Race 1 to a mechanical issue.

“I started in P2 and my job was to keep the gap in an attacking position for Trent, so he could finish off the work,” said Cecotto.

“It was a fantastic day for us. The car was perfect, and we deserved to win. A win feels good no matter where you are in the championship.”

Brandon Gdovic and Shinya Michimi picked up the final Pro class podium position in fourth overall.

On track, they finished 16 seconds behind Pro-Am winners JC Perez and Loris Spinelli whose P1 Motorsports team now has a 41-point lead with four rounds remaining.

Ryan Hardwick took the Am class honors for Dream Racing Motorsports for the fourth time this season, after fighting with Damon Ockey and Brian Thienes early in the race.

Sheena Monk, meanwhile, took her first win in the LB Cup class for WTR.
