Robert Noaker Racing will be looking to continue its momentum as the inaugural season of Mustang Challenge reaches its halfway point this weekend at Road America.
The IMSA-sanctioned single-make series lines up for Rounds 5 and 6 of the season at the four-mile Wisconsin circuit, again in support of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
With Tyler Maxson taking a sweep of the weekend at Watkins Glen International, and combining with team owner/driver Robert Noaker for wins at Mid-Ohio, RNR is so far undefeated in the Dark Horse class.
Maxson holds a 20-point lead over Noaker heading into the weekend, with Sam Paley of Southern Paley Motorsports, sitting third in the standings.
Zachry Lee holds command of the Dark Horse Legends category, for drivers 45 years old and over, with three class wins in four races in his McCumbee McAleer Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse R entry.
A total of 26 cars are entered for Road America, highlighted by an increased DHL field with the additions of Greg Bennett (Amerasian Fragrance Competition Motorsports), Rob Ecklin (Automatic Racing), Scott Thomson (LAP Motorsports) and Paolo Salvatore (Torre Racing) since the last round.
Bennett takes the seat of his son, FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar driver Carl Wattana Bennett, in the No. 1 entry, which ran in the top DH class at The Glen.
Track action kicks off on Thursday with opening practice, followed by Practice 2 and qualifying on Friday. Race 1 takes the green flag Saturday at 8:50 a.m. CDT, with Race 2 on tap for Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Both 45-minute races will be streamed live on Peacock, IMSA.tv and Ford Performance’s YouTube channel.
