Mercedes-AMG has launched its “Race Scout” platform, an app aimed to help connect drivers and teams in the motorsports world, as well as other industry professionals in the future.

Developed in cooperation with Labs1886, the app allows drivers and teams to interact by placing notices for available drives, which is integrated into each driver or team’s profile page.

A built-in messenger service then allows drivers and team managers to have private conversations within the app, to begin discussions.

Open to all manufacturers and drivers, the app was rolled out during last month’s Hankook 24 Hours of Dubai in beta form and will be officially launched in April, available free of charge on iOS devices.

Users can register for the beta test at racescout.com.

According to Mercedes-AMG Chairman Tobias Moers, the creation of the app has proven the brand’s motorsports involvement beyond traditional mediums.

“It can be expected from a project that carries Mercedes-AMG’s thumbprint, the goals have been set high: we can really imagine to see RACE Scout become the world’s biggest and most popular motorsport community,” said Moers.

While the initial target group centers on drivers, Moers indicated plans to expand the app to all facets of motorsports.

“In the process, bringing teams and race drivers together is only the first step,” he said.

“At the next levels, the range of functions is to grow continuously. We want to address further target groups such as engineers, mechanics, instructors or also sponsors and organizers.

“Everywhere in international motorsport where the supply of know-how or services is required, RACE Scout is providing the new central platform.”
