Honda Performance Development has confirmed details on the second evolution of the Acura NSX GT3 Evo that will roll out next year.

The Acura NSX GT3 Evo22, which Sportscar365 revealed last month, will build on the original NSX GT3 racing model that was introduced in 2017 and the first Evo variant that arrived at the start of 2019. Its homologation will last through 2024.

According to HPD, the updated car will include “important revisions aimed at addressing team and driver needs” and carries the aim of providing “more consistent performance” across the range of professional and amateur drivers.

Enhancements include upgraded engine intercoolers and spring rates, along with suspension geometry adjustments, increased fluid tank sizes and a new wheel system designed to bring quicker tire changes.

As with its standard Evo predecessor, the Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 chassis will continue to be produced at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, OH.

Final assembly will take place at JAS Motorsport in Italy, which is set to continue providing parts and technical support to teams in Europe.

North America has been the primary market for the NSX GT3, with the car appearing with teams including Meyer Shank Racing, Gradient Racing, Realtime Racing, Magnus Racing/Archangel, Compass Racing and Racers Edge Motorsports over recent years.

The car has competed in both the IMSA and SRO America environments. In 2019 and 2020 it won the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona titles with drivers from Meyer Shank Racing.

As a Honda product, three NSX GT3 Evos currently race in Japan’s Super GT series while Reno Racing and Nova Race are Honda’s active customer outfits in Europe.

Honda also ran an Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli program with the NSX, however that two-year venture ran its course at the end of last season

“We are extremely pleased to announce this latest development of the already highly successful Acura NSX GT3,” said John Whiteman, HPD Manager of Commercial Motorsports.

“While the NSX has won races and titles in some of the world’s most prestigious GT3 series, we believe in constantly improving our products and providing the best possible equipment and support for our Acura Motorsports teams.”

HPD’s announcement of a second Evo kit comes after Audi made the same move with its stalwart R8 racing model last month.

That will also debut next year, along with the new BMW M4 GT3. Porsche and Ferrari are set to introduce brand-new GT3 cars in 2023, along with a ‘double Evo’ from Lamborghini.
