Former Ford executive Raj Nair has been named the President and Chief Operating Officer of Multimatic, it has been revealed.

It comes following Nair’s exit as President of Ford North America due to an internal investigation for “inappropriate behavior.”

New of Nair’s new appointment with the Canadian-based firm, which has been responsible for the build and technical support of the Ford GT, broke on Friday.

Nair confirmed his new job on FordGTForum.com, saying: “I’m really excited about joining the Multimatic team and our future.

“And of course, I’m so happy to be able to stay part of the GT community!”

Nair, a longtime engineer with the Detroit automaker, had been one of the masterminds behind the Ford GT program, which Multimatic had helped orchestrate.

He was promoted to Head of Ford North America in May 2017, although abruptly resigned in February due to behavior that, according to Ford was “inconsistent with the company’s code of conduct.”

Multimatic is responsible for the production of the Ford GT road cars, while also operating the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing-entered cars in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

“Raj brings extensive knowledge, perspective and skills in engineering, manufacturing, management and overall auto industry experience to Multimatic,” Multimatic’s Head of Sales and Marketing Michael Guttilla told Road & Track.

“These qualities will help Multimatic attain another level of performance for our customers.”

It’s understood Nair started his new position on May 7.
