The County of Monterey and WeatherTech have come to terms on a multi-year naming rights agreement for Laguna Seca, which beginning on April 1, will be known as WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The 11-turn, 2.238-mile circuit had previously featured sponsorship from Mazda, which expires on March 31 following the end of a 17-year agreement with the Japanese manufacturer.

Its new deal with WeatherTech, reported to be a five-year, $5 million deal, according to the Monterey Herald, will further expand the Illinois-based automotive accessory company’s motorsports involvement, as it also serves as the entitlement sponsor of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

“The swiftness of an agreement is testament to the iconic facility’s stature in the world of motorsports,” a statement from the track read. “Already as word of the pending agreement surfaced, accolades from within the industry has been favorable.

“SCRAMP was able to capitalize on not only the facility’s heritage, but on the future plans in place to enhance the facility for generations to come.

“Laguna Seca has long been an economic engine for the Central Coast and it continues to operate without the benefit of public funds.”
