Jackie Chan DC Racing has confirmed a three-car effort for the Asian Le Mans Series season, entering a pair of Oreca 05 Nissans in LMP2 as well as a LMP3 class Ligier JS P3 Nissan.

The Chinese-backed team, which currently leads the LMP2 title race in the FIA World Endurance Championship, highlighted by a class win at Le Mans, will continue its partnership with Jota Sport, which will make its series debut.

Team co-owner David Cheng is a three-time Asian LMS champion and will be seeking more success in the 2017-18 season.

“I have enjoyed racing in the Asian Le Mans Series since the first race of the series and, as the championship has grown, it has become more and more competitive,” Cheng said.

“We’re looking forward to a tough fight as we work towards winning a fourth Asian Le Mans Series title.”

Drivers have yet to be announced but will feature a mix of up-and-coming talent from Asia, as well as team veterans such as Cheng and countryman Ho-Pin Tung.

“Providing young drivers with the opportunity to prove themselves is something that is important to both Jackie Chan and myself, and we look forward to having the opportunity to work with and to help develop young talents,” Cheng said.

“Jackie Chan DC Racing x JOTA Sport is looking forward evaluating new talent and working with the next generation of Chinese motorsport stars.”

It will be a busy end of the year for the team, which will contest the remainder 0f the WEC season with its two Oreca 07 Gibson LMP2 cars, while debuting the three-car effort in next month’s Asian LMS season-opener in Zhuhai.

The Zhuhai round comes one week prior to the penultimate round of the WEC season in Shanghai.

“As we get ready for our Asian debut, we expect a number of tough challenges, including the logistics of competing in both the final rounds of the WEC and the opening race of Asian Le Mans, as well as tackling the increasingly tough competition in Asia,” said Jota Sport’s Sam Hignett.

“However, we’ve been working hard making all the preparations required to be successful, and I believe we have the right team in place to fight for the championship. We look forward to getting this campaign underway in Zhuhai in October.”
