Nicolas Lapierre was the quickest driver again in Free Practice 2 for the Four Hours of Le Castellet, posting a time of 1:53.546 early in the session on Saturday morning.

The lap time was enough to put the No. 21 DragonSpeed Oreca 07 Gibson on top by over three-tenths, ahead of the SMP Racing Dallara P217 Gibson of Matevos Isaakyan in second position.

United Autosports’ Filipe Albuquerque managed to set the third-best lap time with his Ligier JS P217 Gibson meanwhile, putting all three LMP2 manufacturers represented in the series into the top three positions.

While DragonSpeed still topped the session, it was unable to match its result from FP1 which saw the G-Drive Racing-backed car finish third, with the No. 22 Oreca instead down in ninth after FP2, with a best time over 2.7 seconds off the pace.

United Autosports ensured the Ligier JS P3 Nissan beat the Norma M30 Nissan to the best time in the LMP3 class, with its No. 3 car driven by Wayne Boyd less than 0.05 seconds ahead of the M.Racing – YMR Norma.

A quick time from Matteo Cairoli put the No. 77 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR in the GTE class lead, amongst several LMP3 cars on the combined timesheet.

The session was interrupted three times, with two Full Course Yellows and one red flag after the No. 8 Duqueine Engineering Norma went off track.

Qualifying at Circuit Paul Ricard kicks off at 1:45 p.m. local time ahead of Sunday’s race.
