90 Drivers for SRO Esports Monza Charity Race

90 drivers register for Sunday’s SRO charity esports race at Monza…

A total of 90 drivers will take part in the SRO E-Sport GT Series Charity Challenge this weekend, with real-world racing drivers going head-to-head with sim racers and wildcard fans.

The larger than expected field has led to an altered time schedule since the event was first announced last week, with two semi-final races now set to decide the field for a final.

The esports race will take place at Monza, site of the canceled first round of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, on the Assetto Corsa Competizione platform with support from Kunos Simulazioni and Ak Informatica.

All three races, which will take place on Sunday afternoon, will be one hour in length with no mandatory pit stop, instead of the initially planned two-hour single-race format.

Each semi-final will include 40 real-world and sim drivers plus five wildcards, with the top 20 from each race going on to decide the 40-car grid for the final.

The field includes GTWC Europe regulars Miguel Molina, Daniel Juncadella, Dennis Lind, Christian Engelhart, Andy Soucek and David Perel, while other notable entrants include Americans Colin Braun and Mason Filippi, along with British GT’s Martin Plowman.

More than a dozen series from around the world will be represented by the 55 real-world drivers.

They’ll be joined by top sim racers including reigning F1 Esports Series champion David Tonizza, FIA Motorsport Games gold medallist Cody Nikola Latkovski, and other esports stars such as Amos Laurito, Enzo Bonito, Josh Martin and Kamil Pawlowski.

The semi-finals will take place between 2-4:30 p.m. CEST (starting at 8 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. BST), with the final at 5 p.m. (11 a.m. EST / 4 p.m. GMT) immediately after a 15-minute qualifying session. Click here for the full timetable.

The event will be streamed on a number of platforms, including the GT World YouTube channel, with commentary from GTWC Europe regulars David Addison and John Watson, plus Jack Nicholls and Ben Constandurous.
