As first revealed by Sportscar365, the 24H Series powered by Hankook will make its North American debut next year, with Creventic confirming the Hankook 24 Hours of COTA on its 2017 schedule, which was released in Friday.
The non-championship event for GT and touring cars will take place on Nov. 9-11, 2017 at Circuit of The Americas, marking only the second professional level 24-hour race in America outside of the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
“We have been working on this for a long time and we are delighted that everything is now in place for us to have a race there next year,” Creventic’s Peter Freij said.
“Like for our race in Dubai, we will be offering tailor-made packages including transport of cars and equipment to Texas and back, so that teams don’t have to worry about the logistics.
“For teams wanting to race both at COTA in 2017 and at Dubai in January, 2018, we will also be offering combined transport options for Texas and Dubai.”
A total of six new events are on the 2017 calendars between the 24H Series and and Creventic’s expanded Touring Car Endurance Series.
The 24H Series will again kick off in Dubai on Jan. 12-14, prior to the 12 Hours of Mugello in March. The 24 Hours of Paul Ricard moves from July to May, with new 12-hour races being added at Monza and Imola.
Another new event, the 24 Hours of Portimao is scheduled for late August, which will serve as the championship points-paying season finale.
A five-round calendar, meanwhile, has been confirmed for the TCES, kicking off at Silverstone in March.
