R-Motorsport came out on top in qualifying for the Hankook 24 Hours of COTA on Friday, beating both Black Falcon cars to pole position.

Marvin Kirchhoefer posted a lap time of 2:05.774 around the Texan circuit, with his Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 the only car to dip beneath the 2:06 benchmark.

He shares the A6-Am entry with Florian Kamelger, Andreas Baenziger and Peter Leemhuis.

Black Falcon secured second and third positions on the grid with its No. 2 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Jeroen Bleekemolen, Luca Stolz, Hubert Haupt and Ben Keating set to line up second, while Yelmer Buurman, Mike Skeen, Scott Heckert and Bret Curtis will start third.

Both of Black Falcon’s entries are in the A6-Pro class, giving the German team class pole in the lead GT3 category.

LightSpeed Racing qualified fourth overall with its SCG 003C, ahead of the SPS automotive performance Mercedes in fifth.

RENNtech Motorsports took GT4 class honors with its No. 890 Mercedes-AMG GT4 shared by Kyle Marcelli, Chapman Ducote, David Ducote, Wayne Ducote and Paul Barnhart Jr.

The team will start from 15th overall in its series debut, ahead of the Winward Racing / HTP Motorsport Mercedes.

The 24H COTA gets underway at 10:30 a.m. local time on Saturday, with the first 12.5 hours set to be run ahead of an overnight intervention.
