Peter Cunningham and his RealTime Racing team will take on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with a former Pirelli World Challenge-spec Acura TLX GT car, the team has revealed.

Cunningham, who retired from full-time driving last year, is set for his debut in the internationally renowned hill climb, competing in the Pikes Peak “Open” class, with a modified version of the car he drove in the 2014-16 PWC seasons.

The Honda Performance Development-supported project will see the TLX GT be readapted to all-wheel-drive, which last ran in PWC in 2015, with other updates set to also be made. Work is already underway at the team’s shop in Milwaukee.

The 12.42-mile course, which was fully paved in 2012, features 156 turns and vertical rise of 4,725 feet.

“Rules for the Open Class are quite liberal, so the TLX will benefit from modifications to the drivetrain, suspension and aerodynamics,” a statement from the team said.”

RealTime gave the Acura NSX GT3 its PWC debut in the Sprint GT season-opening round at St. Pete earlier this month and is set for as full-season effort with Ryan Eversley and Peter Kox.

The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is set for June 25.
