Two-time DTM Champion Marco Wittmann will take part in the FIA GT World Cup in Macau as part of an increased effort from BMW, the German manufacturer has confirmed.

The 27-year-old German will line up alongside Virgin Australia Supercars ace Chaz Mostert in a pair of BMW M6 GT3s entered by AAI Motorsports for the Nov. 16-19 event.

It comes in addition to BMW’s previously announced factory entry for Augusto Farfus, who will drive the 18th BMW Art Car.

Wittmann made his Macau GT debut in 2014, finishing seventh in an AAI-run BMW-backed entry, in the event’s final year prior to being awarded World Cup status.

Both drivers took part in February’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour in BMWs entered by SRM and MARC Cars, respectively.

Changes Confirmed for FIA GT World Cup

The FIA has confirmed a series of changes to the sporting regulations for this year’s event, in the wake of an incident-filled and red-flag-ridden 2016 race.

Additional time will be allocated before and after each race for potential delays or “unforeseen on-track circumstances” with the restart procedure to be reduced from ten to five minutes following red flags.

Pirelli, meanwhile, has been approved as the exclusive tire provider with Panta as the fuel supplier for the event.
