Audi has been given a pre-race Balance of Performance break ahead of this afternoon’s start of the Nürburgring 24.

The German manufacturer, which struggled in Top 30 Qualifying, has been handed a 10 kg decrease in minimum weight, bringing the Audi R8 LMS GT3 to a base weight of 1300 kg.

Christopher Mies was the highest-placed Audi in Friday’s shootout-style qualifying, with a best lap that was more than three seconds slower than the pole-sitting Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of Laurens Vanthoor.

Additionally, concessions have been made to both the BMW M6 GT3, and Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003.

The BMW has been given a 10 mbar increase in maximum boost, while the SCG, which runs in the SP-X class, given a weight break and slight power increase.

The only car hit with a potential penalty is the Lamborghini Huracan GT3, which is now mandated to run a ADAC-supplied 33.7 mm (x2) air restrictor, compared to the FIA-spec restrictor that was used in practice and qualifying.

The No. 8 Konrad Motorsport entry, the only GT3-spec Lamborghini in the field, qualified 24th.

The changes have been communicated to teams less than four hours prior to the start of the race, which gets underway at 3:30 p.m. local time.
