Audi Sport Customer Racing will support four teams in this year’s Nürburgring 24, including three outfits that have previously won the race and a debutant.

WRT, Land Motorsport and Phoenix Racing will each field one car in a hope of claiming another victory at the Green Hell while Audi Sport Team BWT contests the race for the first time.

Three Audi DTM pilots – Robin Frijns, Nico Mueller and Rene Rast – will form part of the lineups while factory sports car drivers Christopher Haase, Christopher Mies, Kelvin van der Linde, Frank Stippler, Dries Vanthoor, Frederic Vervisch and Markus Winkelhock will also compete, as well as Sheldon van der Linde.

Mies and Kelvin van der Linde return to the Land car to defend their 2017 win, but will be joined by Sheldon van der Linde instead of fellow reigning winners Winkelhock and Connor De Phillippi.

“The Nürburgring 24 Hours has retained its character as an extreme challenge for pros and amateurs to this day,” said Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport Customer Racing.

“With the teams supported by us and other private fieldings we are well set in the battle for overall victory.

“And with seven former winners on board we also have a strong driver squad.”

The teams and drivers will enter the first races of the VLN series in preparation for the 24-hour race on May 12-13, starting with this weekend’s VLN season-opener.
