One of the most legendary brands associated with the Nürburgring has pulled the plug on its motorsports activities, with the Haribo Racing Team ceasing operations effective immediately.

The German squad had fielded GT3 entries in VLN and Nürburgring 24 competition for the last seven years, initially with Porsches before transitioning to a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in 2016.

No word has been given on the reason for its withdrawal.

“The Haribo Group has decided to no longer participate in motorsport,” said Marco Alfter, press officer for the team. “We would like to thank the entire team, our partners and our loyal fans for this great achievement and for the inimitable team spirit.”

Uwe Alzen, Lance David Arnold, Maxi Gotz and Jan Seyffarth took the team’s Mercedes GT3 to a third place overall finish in the 24-hour race in 2016, with other top drivers, including Renger van der Zande, having driven the popular gummy bear-sponsored entry.
