Nine rising stars from Porsche’s various single-make series have taken part in a two-day test for prospective Porsche Juniors at the Lausitzring, as part of a driver search to join the German manufacturer’s driver development program next year.

Drivers from nine of Porsche’s Carrera Cup or Challenge series were invited for this week’s test at the German circuit, including Porsche Carrera Cup Asia standout Will Bamber, the younger brother of two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Earl, as well as Pirelli World Challenge front-runner Rodrigo Baptista, who also races in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Brasil.

Hurley Haywood Scholarship winner Jake Eidson, who recently clinched the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA championship, also took part, alongside Julien Andlauer (Porsche Carrera Cup France), Charlie Eastwood (Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain), Philip Morin (Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia), Dylan O’Keeffe (Porsche Carrera Cup Australia), Riccardo Pera and Alessio Rovera (Porsche Carrera Cup Italia).

The new Porsche Junior will be announced in the coming weeks once an extensive evaluation has taken place from the test.

The newly selected driver will receive 225,000 Euros towards a season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, as well as driver mentoring, fitness, psychological and media training support.

“Once again we have a very talented driver line-up this year,” said Jenniffer Biela-Moll, the Head of Porsche Motorsport’s Junior Program.

“I’m impressed at how local markets are playing an active role in the one-make race series and are sending top-quality drivers from their national youth development programmes to take part in our junior shootout.”
