Jenson Button will make the full-time switch to sports car racing, having been confirmed in Honda’s lineup for Super GT for next year.
The 2009 Formula One world champion, who had been linked to multiple potential drives in IMSA, has elected to focus his efforts on the Japanese-based GT championship, with his plans having been announced Sunday during a Honda event at Twin Ring Motegi.
Button made his Super GT debut in August’s Suzuka 1000km in a Team Mugen-entered Honda NSX-GT, finishing 12th in the GT500 class.
Confirmation on his team or co-driver is not expected to come until early next year.
