Black Swan Racing will return to Pirelli World Challenge competition in this weekend’s penultimate round of the season at Sonoma Raceway, with Tim Pappas at the wheel of its Porsche 911 GT3 R in the GTA class.

Pappas, who suspended his racing activities last month due to the death of his father, will be making his first start since the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Lime Rock Park in July, and first with the GT3-spec Porsche in PWC.

The team previously campaigned a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, and most recently a Dodge Viper GT3-R in the GTA class, with Pappas having recorded a 2nd place class finish at Long Beach in April.

Black Swan’s return to PWC is understood to be unrelated to fellow Porsche squad WeatherTech/Alex Job Racing’s switch to the sprint race championship for the final two rounds of the season.

The addition of the Black Swan entry brings the number of Porsche 911 GT3 R cars up to eight for Sonoma.

A final decision on the team’s participation for the season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in October has not yet been made.
