Michael Cooper has joined CRP Racing for the remainder of the Pirelli World Challenge season, replacing the departing Daniel Morad beginning with this weekend’s SprintX season finale at Utah Motorsports Campus.

The former Cadillac Racing driver, who teamed with Jordan Taylor to win the GT SprintX title last year, will share the wheel of CRP’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Matty Brabham in Utah.

Cooper will be the fifth different driver to drive for the Nick Short-led team this season.

“CRP Racing has become a staple of the PWC grid and I’m exciting to join them for the remaining rounds of the 2018 championship,” Cooper said.

“Nick Short and the team gave me an opportunity to race in the GT class five years ago, which was a first and the spark for my GT career. I can’t thank them enough for bringing me back to GT.

“I’m looking forward to representing DeVilbiss and experiencing the speed of the Mercedes GT3 car while doing so.”

Morad, who had been the team’s full-season driver, announced on Wednesday that he was leaving the team with immediate effect.

It will be a busy weekend for Cooper, who is also set to take part in the pair of GTS SprintX races in the No. 11 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R.
