Daniel Mancinelli scored the GT pole position for Race 1 of the Pirelli World Challenge weekend at Sonoma Raceway, edging championship contender Michael Cooper for the top spot.

Mancinelli’s lap of 1:32.002 in the No. 31 TR3 Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 was 0.146 seconds faster than Cooper’s best time in the No. 8 Cadillac ATS-V.R, denying the Cadillac Racing driver a critical point for pole position in Cooper’s bid for the Overall and Sprint championships.

Ryan Dalziel and Pierre Kaffer make up Row 2 for CRP Racing and Magnus Racing, respectively, with championship leader Patrick Long slotting in fifth for Wright Motorsports.

K-PAX Racing’s Alvaro Parente, who enters the weekend second in the Overall and Sprint standings, will start seventh.

Michael Schein took GTA pole position in the No. 16 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R and will start 10th overall.

Race 1 for GT, GTA, and GT Cup is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. PT this afternoon, with live coverage available at World-Challenge.com.
