Reiter Engineering Confirms Enge and Von Thurn und Taxis

Reiter Engineering has confirmed a two-car Pirelli World Challenge entry. The German squad will enter a pair of Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3 cars this season.

Hans Reiter’s team will debut in the Pirelli World Challenge at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in April. Tomas Enge will race one Lamborghini in the GT class, while Albert von Thurn und Taxis will race a second car in the GT-A class.

The Reiter Engineering developed Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3 was homologated for the Pirelli World Challenge in December. Having won races in Europe, Asia and South America, Reiter hopes to become as successful in the US.

“The American market is very important for us, which is why we decided to be present at the track to be able to advise and support potential American customers as well as possible – which they obviously deserve,” said Hans Reiter.

For Enge his Pirelli World Challenge debut marks the return to GT racing. The Czech driver had been banned from competing after testing positive for a banned substance after the FIA GT1 World Championship race at Navarra in 2012. This ban expired on December 14, 2013.

Enge will also return to the circuit on which he suffered a shattered left elbow, cracked ribs, a partially collapsed lung and other injuries in accident while leading the GT2 class at the Sports Car Challenge at St. Petersburg American Le Mans Series race in 2007.

“I still have a score to settle with this track and am very confident that we can score an excellent result here,” Enge said.

Von Thurn und Taxis will make his North American race debut in St. Petersburg in April.

“I’ve dreamt about racing in the States for a long time, and am now obviously really looking forward to my debut in the Pirelli World Series,” added Von Thurn und Taxis. “The whole team can’t wait to lay some rubber on the streets of St Petersburg and measure our car with the competition from overseas!”
