Toni Vilander began his Pirelli World Challenge GT Overall championship pursuit by topping the time charts in Practice 1 at Watkins Glen.

The R. Ferri Motorsport driver, who holds the championship lead entering the season finale this weekend, set the fastest time of the session in his No. 61 Ferrari 488 GT3.

Alvaro Parente was 0.208 seconds behind in second in the No. 9 K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3, while the No. 24 Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Michael Christensen was third.

Rodrigo Baptista and Scott Hargrove completed the top five for K-PAX and Pfaff Motorsports, respectively.

Anthony Imperato was fastest in the GTA category in the No. 91 Wright Racing Porsche.

GTA class competitors Yuki Harata and Martin Fuentes did not turn laps in the session.

Harata is understood to have encountered a last minute conflict and his Dream Racing Motorsport team will not compete this weekend.

Meanwhile, Fuentes’ Squadra Corse Garage Italia team identified a fuel leak problem which they anticipate will be resolved in time for Practice 2 which is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. local time.

RESULTS: Practice 1
