Marcus Mahy has been released from the intensive care unit, almost a month since his massive accident in the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

The 53-year-old British driver was airlifted to Centre Hospitalier Universitaire in Liege following a crash with fellow Ferrari driver Vadim Kogay, which put the race under a red flag.

Mahy, who underwent surgery, is expected to soon be transferred to a hospital near his home in Guernsey and is projected to make a full recovery.

“Mr. Mahy wishes to thank the medical staff of the CHU and the medical intervention team at the Spa circuit for their care and professional assistance, and all those who have supported him in his continuing recovery,” a statement from the SRO read.
