BMW Confirms ROWE as Works-Supported Team

Following the dismantling of the Marc VDS Racing Team, BMW Motorsport has appointed Rowe Racing as a works supported team for the the 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and Spa.

The German team makes the switch from the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 and will field two works-supported BMW M6 GT3s in both major GT3 enduros next season.

After its first full-season in the Blancpain Endurance Series this year, Rowe will add the Sprint Series to its 2016 schedule and compete for the overall Blancpain GT honors.

Furthermore the Hans-Peter Naundorf-led squad will also represent BMW in the season ending Macau FIA GT World Cup.

“We are delighted with the partnership with BMW,” said Naundorf.  “The opportunity to be able to run the new BMW M6 GT3 at the highest level of motorsport is both challenging and motivating at the same time.

“As a successful endurance team we have once again very ambitious goals in mind for the coming season and are looking towards the turn of the year with great confidence.“

BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert will continue to defend BMW’s colors at the 24 hours of Nüburgring.

Though no lineups have been confirmed so far, BMW already announced which drivers will strengthen the works teams for Nüburgring and Spa.

DTM drivers Martin Tomczyk, Augusto Farfus, Marco Wittmann and Maxime Martin, IMSA pilots Dirk Werner and Lucas Luhr, as well as Jörg Müller, Jens Klingmann, Alexander Sims, Richard Westbrook, Nick Catsburg and Philipp Eng will take part in the two 24-hour races.
