Rinaldi Planning Switch to Ferrari 488 GT3

Following a strong season in the Blancpain GT Series, Rinaldi Racing is working on a switch to the new Ferrari 488 GT3 for 2016.

The Russian backers of the modest German squad are pleased with the performances delivered over the past months and are looking to continue their support.

After a strong second at the Monza Blancpain Endurance opener with Rinat Salikhov, the striking green Ferrari of Norbert Siedler and Marco Seefried emerged as a title contender in the hotly contested Sprint Series, something that didn’t go unnoticed at Ferrari.

Following a dominant showing at the penultimate Misano Sprint round, the team already paid a visit the Michelotto workshop to have a look at the Ferrari 488 GTB in GT3 specification.

With a price upwards of at least 525,000 Euros ($595,000 USD), the car is believed to be the most expensive GT3 racer of the new generation.

While a return to the SRO-run series with the successful duo of Siedler and Seefried is on the cards, the addition of a second full season car is also under consideration, which could see Russian backers Salikhov and Vadim Kogay take the wheel.

This scenario would make the new Ferrari 488 GT3 fully eligible for the Pro category of the Blancpain GT Series, which now requires at least two cars of each model to be entered at all rounds, with one of them in the Pro category.

Salikhov and Kogay will already return to action in this weekend’s FFSA GT Tour season finale at Paul Ricard, where they’ll share the Rinaldi Ferrari 458 Italia with Seefried in both 90-minute races.
