Alexander Sims and Philipp Eng will join Rowe Racing for the 2016 Blancpain GT Series.

Both drivers will strengthen the team’s assault with its two new BMW M6 GT3 cars in the Blancpain Endurance and Sprint Cups.

Reigning Porsche Super Cup and Porsche Carrera Cup champion Eng has switched to the GT3 category to continue his sports car career and was recently signed as a BMW factory driver.

“I am proud to be a part of the BMW family as well as to race in the best GT championships with Rowe Racing. The combination of my driver colleagues, the team and the BMW M6 GT3 gives me confidence for a successful season,” said Eng.

Former McLaren Autosport BRDC award winner Sims brings a vast amount of GT experience to the team with runner up position in last year’s British GT championship as well as Blancpain Series participations over the last couple of years.

“This will be my third year with BMW which I am really pleased about and to be elevated to a full European program with a team like Rowe Racing is a great opportunity for me,” said Sims.

“Both drivers are top level professionals with successful records and vital experience in sports car racing,” said team principal Hans-Peter Naundorf.

“I am sure they will be a big help to get our new BMW M6 GT3 cars up to competitiveness.”

The team has yet to confirm its other drivers for its first full Blancpain GT Series program.
