Belgian Audi Club Team WRT has confirmed that an additional Audi R8 LMS has been entered for Will Stevens and Rene Rast, bringing the total entries for the defending Blancpain GT Series championship-winning team to six cars.

The team had initially announced five Audis for the 2016 season, but confirmed the entry for Stevens and Rast ahead of today’s SRO press conference at Paul Ricard, which revealed the series’ full-season entry list.

Stevens, who recently tested for WRT at Misano, will compete in the Blancpain GT Series alongside his FIA World Endurance Championship LMP2 campaign with Manor WEC.

“The opportunity to work with WRT and combine Blancpain and WEC campaigns was a very easy decision for me,” said Stevens.

“I am very grateful to Vincent for this opportunity and am really looking forward to working with him, the team and René. Their respective track records are fantastic and I’m confident our combined partnership will bring success.”

“I am sincerely happy to be able to enjoy a full Blancpain program also this season, and it is a great pleasure to do it again with the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT,” added Rast.

“I am also very happy to be associated with Will, who comes from F1 and is very fast. I am sure we will enjoy the experience!”

Neither driver will take part in the Sprint Cup round at Brands Hatch or the Endurance Cup finale at the Nurburgring due to clashes with WEC.

Next month’s Blancpain Sprint Cup season-opener at Misano will mark Stevens’ sports car racing debut, following two seasons of Formula One with the Manor team.
