The Audi R8 LMS GT2 will make its race debut in this weekend’s Blancpain GT Sports Club races at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya but will be the only GT2 car present.

The event was initially set to be the first multi-manufacturer GT2 race after a single-make event for Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsports and Porsche 935s was held in support of the Total 24 Hours of Spa in July.

Porsche, however, won’t be represented at Barcelona this weekend in the GT Sports Club races supporting the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup finale.

It leaves just one Audi, entered by Audi Sport Team WRT for James Sofronas.

Sofronas previously drove a Porsche GT2 car in the manufacturer’s July races, which were dubbed the Porsche Motorsport GT2 Supersportscar Weekend.

Fifteen Porsches took part in the two races, including 12 GT2 cars and three 935s.

Sofronas will be joined by 14 GT3 competitors at Barcelona this weekend, where a title battle will play out between Jens Reno Moller and Murod Sultanov.

Free Practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday, with Race 1 at 5 p.m. local time (11 a.m. EDT) on Saturday and Race 2 at 11 a.m. (5 a.m.) on Sunday.

The identity of a third GT2 manufacturer, joining Porsche and Audi, is also set to be revealed at Barcelona.
