The GT4 European Series is set to expand for next season to include separate cups in the UK, France and central Europe in addition to the main series.

It comes as another format change to the championship which split to form the Northern Cup and Southern Cup this season.

The Southern Cup becomes the French GT4 Cup for 2018, while the Northern Cup will return to its roots as the GT4 European Series.

In addition, the SRO has also formed the British GT4 Cup, which will run semi-independently from the British GT Championship and share several race weekends, and the Central European GT4 Cup.

The Central European GT4 Cup has no confirmed schedule as of yet but is expected to include races in Germany, Austria, and Slovakia and effectively replaces the Alpine Cup which was suggested last season.

The exact relationship between the British GT4 Cup and the British GT Championship, which is set to feature separate GT3 and GT4 races next season, is not yet known.

Also planned are a new Southern GT4 Cup based in Spain and Portugal, and for the Central European Cup to split to form a German GT4 Cup as well, although the timeframe for both series has not yet been announced.

All regional platforms will only be open to Pro-Am entries, although the premier GT4 European Series will welcome Silver-Silver entries.

The GT4 European Series schedule comprises six events on Formula 1 circuits during Blancpain GT Series weekends and will sometimes be mixed with regional Cup grids.

A European GT4 final at Portimao is also possible on a to-be-determined date in November.
