Supercars ace Cameron Waters will enter Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS competition with a brand-new Porsche 911 GT3 R fielded by Dutton EMA Motorsport.

The 27-year-old has been confirmed alongside the team’s Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia driver Ben Stack for its planned entry into the championship beginning with the next round at Sandown on Sept. 17-19.

Waters took part in the 2018 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour but has been exploring additional sports car racing opportunities.

“I have been keen to do more GT racing since 2018,” he said. “Diversifying into different categories creates new disciplines and challenges, and I can’t wait for my chance to drive the Porsche product and battle for race wins.”

According to team manager Mathew Nilsson, excitement is starting to build after delays “beyond the team’s control” in taking delivery of the car that prevented them from starting the season.

“Our Porsche 911 GT3 R program has been progressing for quite some time now, with a lot of effort behind the scenes,” he said.

“Signing a Pro driver of the calibre and professionalism of Cam has been an important achievement, we welcome him to our team and look forward to working with him.”

Dutton EMA becomes the second GTWC Australia team to have Porsche’s latest-gen GT3 contender, joining Grove Racing.
