Andrea Caldarelli led a Lamborghini 1-2-3 sweep in the first official practice session of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season at Sonoma Raceway.

The Lamborghini factory driver reeled off a 1:36.798 in the No. 3 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo to edge out the sister No. 6 entry by 0.409 seconds.

Caldarelli is sharing the all-black Lamborghini with ex-Bentley factory driver Jordan Pepper, with Giovanni Venturini and Corey Lewis in K-PAX’s second Lamborghini.

Italian rising star Giacomo Altoe was third quickest overall and best of the Pro-Am class competitors in the No. 9 TR3 Racing Lamborghini followed by Ryan Dalziel in the No. 63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in fourth.

Jan Heylen completed the top-five in the No. 20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, with Michael Cooper sixth in the No. 19 DXDT Mercedes.

DXDT’s third Mercedes, shared by George Kurtz and Colin Braun, were seventh quickest overall, ahead of the No. 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo and Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3.

The No. 77 Compass Racing Acura completed the top-ten in the 60-minute scheduled session, which ended four minutes early due to an accident by the No. 61 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 of Jean‐Claude Saada.

Saada’s car reportedly sustained extensive damage from the incident.

A total of 14 cars are set for this weekend’s pair of season-opening races, with the No. 88 Zelus Motorsport Lamborghini electing to focus on the GT America powered by AWS races only.

Friday’s second and final practice session for GTWC America competitors is scheduled for 3 p.m. PT.
