K-PAX Racing’s Austin Cindric set the fastest lap in Friday’s opening Pirelli World Challenge practice for this weekend’s penultimate round of the season at Sonoma Raceway.

Cindric turned a best lap of 1:32.723 in his No. 6 McLaren 650S GT3, edging out the No. 3 Cadillac ATS-V.R of Johnny O’Connell by 0.277 seconds.

James Davison was third quickest in his No. 33 Always Evolving Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, with the top-five separated by less than a half-second.

Michael Schein led the way in GTA, posting a 1:35.908 lap in his No. 16 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, which has received a weight break on Thursday.

PWC debutant Cooper MacNeil in the No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche was third quickest in class.

In GT Cup, Mike Hedlund was quickest in his No. 35 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

The second and final practice session of the day gets underway at 1:15 p.m. PT time.
