Pierre Kaffer led the way in Thursday’s one-and-only timed practice session for GT/GTA/GT Cup cars ahead of this weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge Sprint races at Road America.

The Magnus Racing driver reeled off a quick lap of 2:23.130 on a wet track in his No. 4 Audi R8 LMS to edge out defending GT champion Alvaro Parent by 0.797 seconds.

The No. 88 Bentley Team Absolute Bentley Continental GT3 of Adderly Fong was third on the time charts, followed by Ryan Dalziel fourth in the No. 2 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Alexandre Negrao completed the top-five in the No. 92 MCC Motorsports Mercedes.

The No. 16 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Michael Schein was quickest in GTA, thanks to a 2:27.513 lap time that put him 12th overall, with the No. 55 Dream Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo of Yuki Harata was the only GT Cup entry to set a time.

A total of 20 cars turned laps in the half-hour session, which started in constant rain before slowly drying out.

The GT times, however, were slower than the GTS category, which completed its practice session largely under dry conditions.

GT/GTA/GT Cup competitors are on track next for Practice on Friday at 5:10 p.m. CT.

RESULTS: Practice 1
