Cooper Leads Cadillac 1-2 in Practice at Mid-Ohio

Michael Cooper’s late flier put him atop the Pirelli World Challenge time sheets in the one-and-only practice session of the weekend Friday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The Cadillac Racing driver set the fast lap of 1:20:369 in the No. 8 Cadillac ATS-V.R, edging his teammate Johnny O’Connell in the sister entry by 0.132 seconds.

Ryan Dalziel took third for CRP Racing in the No. 2 Mercedes-AMG GT3, followed by the GMG Racing Porsche of 911 GT3 R of Alec Udell and Alvaro Parente in the No. 9 K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3.

The top five drivers were covered by just 0.372 seconds.

Wright Motorsports driver Michael Schein checked in with the fastest time in GTA in the No. 16 Porsche, followed by Tim Pappas and James Sofronas for Black Swan Racing and GMG Racing in second and third, respectively.

Yuki Harata paced the GT Cup category in the No. 55 Dream Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo.

Qualifying is up next for GT, GTA, and GT Cup, scheduled for 5:20 p.m. ET this evening.
