Michael de Quesada to Replace Father in Alegra Lineup

A last-minute decision by Alegra Motorsports will see Michael de Quesada co-drive alongside Daniel Morad for the Blancpain GT World Challenge America season, resulting in a two-car GT3 Pro class effort by the Florida-based team.

Alegra had previously announced that team owner Carlos de Quesada would partner Morad in the Pro-Am entry with a new-for-2019 Porsche 911 GT3 R, alongside the team’s sister Porsche of Wolf Henzler and Marco Holzer.

Carlos, however, has elected to give his seat to son Michael, resulting in a change of class due to the second-generation driver’s Silver rating by the FIA.

The 19-year-old, who is coming off a season of Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, will reunite with Morad, having driven together in selected IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship races in 2017, including sharing GT Daytona class honors in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to take on this challenge.” said Michael. “It’s going to be great driving with Dan again.”

Alegra’s adjusted lineup results in six GT3 Pro class cars for this weekend’s season-opener at Circuit of The Americas, which sees a total of 23 entries.
