Trent Hindman and Shelby Blackstock rebounded from their disappointments of Race 1 to take a commanding victory in the second and final GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race of the weekend at Sonoma Raceway.

Blackstock, in the No. 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo, cruised to a 44.268-second win over the No. 20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Fred Poordad and Max Root in second.

It came after the Acura lost out on a sure-fire win on Saturday due to making its mandatory pit stop and driver change outside of the pit window, which has been revised for this weekend.

The No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche of James Sofronas and Jeroen Bleekemolen took GT3 Pro-Am class honors with a third place overall finish.

Sofronas had been pressuring the No. 1 Squadra Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 of Martin Fuentes in the closing stages of the 90-minute race until the Race 1 overall winner sustained a mechanical failure to the right front of the car with less than five minutes to go.

It promoted the GMG Porsche to the overall podium and class win, ahead of the No. 63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of David Askew and Ryan Dalziel, which was classified fourth overall and second in class.

A drive-through penalty for the sister Mercedes of George Kurtz for a pit speed violation dropped George Kurtz from second to seventh and was initially classified in fifth.

Kurtz was spun by the No. 24 TR3 Racing Ferrari of Ziad Ghandor on the final lap while battling for position, with Ghandor penalized post-race for the contact.

Daskalos Sweeps Weekend in GT Sports Club

Jason Daskalos claimed his second victory in GT Sports Club America, in a sweep of the weekend for his Audi R8 LMS ultra.

Daskalos, in the lone GT3-spec car in the series, took a 23.803-second win over the 311RS Motorsport Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport of Ryan Gates.

It came after two of the GMG Racing Porsche entries collided to bring out the race’s only safety car period early in the running.

Kyle Washington, who made contact with Stu Frederick, was given two Behavior Warning Points by SRO America for the Lap 7 collision.

The No. 2 GMG Porsche GT2 of Jason Bell completed the GTSC podium in third in the 40-minute race.

RESULTS: GTWC Race 2 / GTSC Race 2
