Wittmer Sets the Pace in Utah GTS Practice 1

Nick Wittmer showed the way for ST Racing in the first Pirelli World Challenge GTS practice at Utah Motorsports Campus.

Wittmer’s best lap of 1:59.051 in the No. 38 BMW M4 GT4 was 0.100 seconds faster than the No. 88 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW of Henry Schmitt and Greg Liefooghe, which was the fastest of the Am class runners.

The No. 55 PF Racing Ford Mustang GT4 of Jade Buford and Scott Maxwell was third overall, followed by Paul Holton in the No. 78 Compass Racing McLaren and the No. 113 Classic BMW entry shared by Daren Jorgensen and Brett Strom.

GTS SprintX championship leaders James Sofronas and Alex Welch were just 20th out of the 33 cars that turned laps, while their closest championship rival Harry Gottsacker was 17th.

The session ran without major incident.

Practice 2 is scheduled for 2:50 p.m. local time.
