Attempto Racing will no longer campaign McLarens in the Blancpain GT Series, team boss Arkin Aka confirmed to Sportscar365 at the Nürburgring.
The team, previously specializing in Porsches, switched to the new McLaren 650S GT3 and launched a double program in the Blancpain GT Series this year.
Even with Kevin Estre and Rob Bell sharing a car in the Sprint Series, Attempto struggled with the new 650S GT3 and their relationship with McLaren GT according to Aka.
The team entered the McLaren for Estre and Bell for the final time at Moscow Raceway in July, withdrew its three McLarens at Spa and was absent at Portimao at the beginning of this month.
In the Endurance races, Attempto continued with a Porsche 997 GT3-R, which is currently in the hunt for the Am Cup title.
For 2016 Aka said he’s determined to continue in GT3, though he confirmed to team is looking into buying one of the 2016-spec GT3s to campaign in the series.
“It’s an open market at the moment with a lot of new cars out there. If we want to continue we need to buy a new car,” Aka said.
“We are working on a program in the Blancpain GT Series and the ADAC GT Masters. It shouldn’t be a problem for us to combine both of them.
“Porsche Cup racing is history for us now, we really want to continue in GT3.”
